Top secret HTC Touch Diamond with WM 6.5 gets stolen - it wasn’t us!
There’s been a bit of trouble for Microsoft at the World Mobile Congress in Barcelona. It seems like Telstra CEO Sol Trujillo (right) was a bit careless as he roamed around Barcelona last night and managed to lose his prototype HTC Touch with the yet-to-be-released Windows Mobile 6.5 running on it.
Luckily, this happened after OnSoftware had already taken a sneaky peak at the device and grab a video of the new operating system in action. Coincidentally, we were also in the same room as Sol Trujillo yesterday, when he delivered his keynote address at the conference. I know it might seem like the evidence is stacking up against us but I can assure you that it’s purely circumstantial and we can confirm we went nowhere near Sol’s pocket at any point during the day.
Besides, Microsoft Steve Ballmer had said earlier this week that because the new Windows Mobile service backs up all your personal data “it doesn’t matter if it gets stolen”. So what’s all the fuss about then?

In looking at the demo to this did anyone notice how lame the guy demoing it is? ooooohhh it takes me “right to the action” um ok sure. It’s Windows so we know immediately it will crash constantly, and will be hard as hell to use. In watching the demo he even has trouble getting to what he wants. They don’t use the same process as Apple does to boil things down to it’s essence and make it easier to use. They still have like 8-10 steps for each function. So why would I want that in my pocket following me around?

wow this OS is horrible…..the start menu is…well…not even a menu! it opens up as almost a seperate app which doesnt really emulate the “feel” of a connected home screen. they shouldve at least animated the menu to make it look like its part of the screen. Also the whole OS is horibbly laggy! i mean this is the brand new touch diamand 2 with enough theoretical brain power to run windows xp. why cant it run windows mobile smoothly? i mean its still the same frickin operating system as 6 and 6.1. all thats differnt is a few apps and plugins…..just a real shame. i am really dissapointed, i was expecting an entirely new system…similar to what palm did. This wont help microsoft at all………….
