Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 review - a return to form
The last couple of years have been a bit disappointing for Pro Evolution Soccer and its fans. The title has been criticized for its failure to innovate, and subsequently it has lost its crown as the king of football games to the increasingly fluid and more realistic, FIFA series.
As a result, this season is perhaps the most important one in the history of PES. Konami must be confident of reclaiming number one status though, as it proudly furnished us with a preview release a full two months before the official release date. Naturally, we were pretty excited to see how it plays and, for the first time in years, the new version of Pro evolution Soccer doesn’t manage to disappoint.
Off the ball
One thing that was widely panned in Pro Evo 2009 was the menu system. The set-up menus looked like they were built in half an hour by a four-year-old. Navigating the in-game tactics and formation menus on the other hand, was like trying to crack the entry code on the front door of the Pentagon. Thankfully, things have been improved greatly in PES 2010. Although the garish pink and black color scheme remains, all the menus are better organized and more ‘professional’ than the previous version.

The tactics and formation system has been treated to a complete overall, and it’s a thousand times better than the previous fiddly series of menus. Team tactics are controlled using slide bars, to precisely set elements such as pressing, defensive line, counter attacking etc. Preview windows explain exactly what will happen to your line-up as you make changes to these tactics. Player ‘cards’ are another feature that’s been talked up in Pro Evolution Soccer 2010. Each player has a series of cards when you view his stats that show you instantly the areas he is good in (e.g. free kicks, goal poaching, heading, etc.) This system is far easier on the eye than having to focus on huge lists of stats, like you had to in the previous Pro Evo.
In terms of the team line-ups and clubs included in the game, it’s too early to say from this preview version exactly who, and who won’t be featured. But rest assured, all the major European club leagues (with the possible exception of the Bundasliga) will be included. The international team selection has also been updated and a few new countries have been added. So, if you’ve always wanted to take control of Montenegro, Oman, or Mali, you’ll be in luck.
On the ball
Of course, as with real football, the most important stuff happens on the pitch. And here, thanks to a completely revamped game engine, Pro Evolution Soccer is more realistic than ever before. In fact, it’s almost too realistic.
The player likenesses are better than ever before, naturally. Faces are rounder, limbs are less jagged, and the animations are fluidly lifelike. Not only this, but individual players techniques and physical attributes are accounted for in PES 2010. Take a shot as Henry and it will be an Henry-style strike; Make Rooney run and he’ll run like Rooney; Fall to the ground as Drogba and he’ll dive just like the real Drogba (however, we didn’t find a way to make Drogba swear at the camera or attempt to intimidate the referee - features we hope to see in the final version).

The ‘feel’ of Pro Evolution is still as absorbing and you’ll be able to pick it up and play it in much the same way as you have with the last 10 or-so versions. However, there have been plenty of tweaks to the gameplay to make it more realistic. The first is that it feels a little more sluggish. The ball feels much heavier than before, and it doesn’t quite zip off the surface like it used to. What’s more, turning and dribbling now feel like you’ve got treacle on your boots.
Although the primitive free kick controls haven’t really been improved, the new penalty system in Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 marks a departure from previous releases. Instead of bringing up a completely different behind-the player screen, the camera doesn’t change anymore, so you take a penalty as if it were any other set play.
Collision detection has been smartened up in Pro Evolution 2010, and you can’t just expect the ball to stick to your foot once it’s been delivered. Mis-control it and it can go flying off your toe into row-Z, or worse still bounce of your shin and into the path of an oncoming striker.
No doubt the new gameplay features will infuriate you at first and you’ll feel like it’s ruined the game for you. Remember though, that it always takes a while to settle into a new Pro Evo, and once you’ve got used to it, you’ll be praising the ingenuity of the developers for creating such a realistic and challenging simulation of the beautiful game.

Dont be so silly, reviewinga demo, the only reasons penalties are like that is because they only put one camera angle in the demo to lower the filesize, rest assured it will be back for the real release, which inexpect you will review again

I am a PES addict so my opinion is quite biased-but i always still download the fifa demo just for a look. The graphics in FIFA are still better- but not by much this time. I’ve always just preferred how Pro Ev plays abd this time is no different- Pro Ev is difficult, you have to work hard for that goal and you’re more in control of how you finish. This time, the animations and ball physics make it slightly easier to score-i felt the game doing what someone who likes football would expect it to do. A chipped pass slows up when it hits the turf (backspin), I could’ve sworn I saw a difference in what kind of touch the player got off his knee, above ot or below it (i watched a replay incredibly slowly a number of times… I’m so lame…). I really felt i could make a pass more often i.e i had more options for a pass, especially with players like Pirlo, Xavi or Iniesta on the ball. The over-lapping full backs actually over-lapped me, a one-two pass was useful for a change (not since the 32-bit era was a one-two as useful) because passer A was interested in running for more than 2 seconds and didn’t run in a straight line regardless of who was in the way or ready to intercept the typically rubbish pass that passer B will make. Overall, the demo gameplay is a massive improvement. But the real thing that makes me blow 55 euro every Autumn (Fall to americans. Spas.) is the Master League- and this time round I’m in for a treat according to every website and magazine on the subject…

I can’t wait to get naked and play pro evo in my sweet ass room….sometimes I just get so horny when i think of PES..god bless the developers…
Play Beautiful football!!

I agree with Neil.
From playing the demo myself it would appear that the person who wrote this review hasn’t the slighest clue how tell the truth.
In reality the game offers less control than its predecessors (on the pitch). Players are sluggish, controls are sluggish, more moments of automated player bahaviour (often resulting in giving the ball away), the computer AI and bugs are all still there (i.e. suddenly players like Puyol can outrun Henry, Messi etc), ohh and the advantage play is still there (one min your team are faster, slicker on the ball, 2 mins later the opposition gets these improvements while your team slow down.
All this and we haven’t even got to the shooting. How could you make things worse than PES 2009? I am completelt miffed, but they have. Instead of kicking a medicine ball you are kicking a medicine ball that behaves like a beachball.
Terrible terrible game. Tragic since I played ISS/PES since its inception way back on the SNES.

Seán, I think calling it a ‘terrible terrible’ game is nonsense. It’s still a very, very good game (and yes, I have been playing it since its SNES day too). It still has that absorbing feel to it that pulls you into the screen and keeps you there for hours and hours. Plus it’s miles more realistic in terms of the player movements/likenesses/individual player traits.
If anything, it’s FIFA that’s stayed the same over all these years. I haven’t tried the new one but when I played 09 last year it felt like i was sat in my school uniform playing FIFA 94 on the megadrive in my bedroom. The graphics were shabby and you could score the same goals by following the same predictable movements. I really don’t want to get into this whole PES v FIFA debate but I have to say that the EA game feels like its aimed at babies or people who aren’t very good at football games.
I’ll give you the fact that the ball movement feels sluggish in PES 2010, but as I said, that’s something you won’t even notice after a couple of weeks on it.
Come back to me after a couple of weeks of playing both games. I’ll know exactly which one you will have taken back and traded in at the game store….

There is something to be said for the control system of pes. If you’ve played it on default button setting for many versions (as I have) the controls become instinctive. As soon as I even try to play fifa on demo as I do each year, the nuances of EA’s game are more difficult to appreciate as you have to get used to a different interface and can therefore be put you off playing it. THAT IS THE ONLY DEFENCE I WILL OFFER FIFA!!!! I have persevered for HOURS on fifa in an attempt to give it a fair crack of the whip and anyone who says it’s a better game needs plugging into the mains! The only thing fifa does better is the commentry and I’m only saying that because the pes demo hasn’t got any!! If you are going to go deep on a footy sim there is only one choice. I know pes2008 on the ps3 and xbox was unplayable but pes 2009 was a decent update and judging by the demo of pes2010 Konami have got it right back to what we know and love pes to be….The best footy game there is!!!!!

ive never been so confused in my life lol. really don´t know which to go for, evo or fifa. have played the evo demo and wasn´t really impressed, suppose i expected too much. just rented fifa to give it a shot and at first it took me a while to get into it. much more skill needed- if you wanna beat the good online players. i hate losing, and didn´t lose too much while playing evo 09. but, evo 09 was to easy, it wasnt a challange for me anymore. fifa 10 is! it´ll take me a while to get into it, and really master the controls, but thats what im looking for in a game, a challange. can´t afford to buy both. damn you football games.
still confused.

and why the hell cant evo put the players that were transfered during the summer into the correct teams, really putting me off. ie, alonso is still at liverpool, kaka at milan, and so much more. seems like childsplay to simply change the jerseys etc. minus points for evo 2010.
shit review too!

I think they will gordon, when the demo came out it was no where near finished, like 70% of something. I was looking forward to buying a fifa for the first time, but I think I can’t because pes 2010 looks and plays better that I expected. Fifa seems to be the one that has gone back a step this year, boasting about the new 360 control which pes 2010 has this year as well, Fifa was a bit dull. If you want a real football experience not some imitation aracdey game, I think pes is the one to go for. Well that’s my opinion anyway, i’m not a fan boy, havn’t played pes since pes 5 came out.
Posted at 1:39 pm on Oct 22nd
just something i dont like about pes is that its so hard to do tricks, I looked at the special key combinations and its so hard to do or remember a lot of them. I dont really like the manual pass for the analogue stick, maybe they should have used the stick to do tricks instead.

I got my hands on PES 2010 dvd yesterday eve.
I was absolutely surprised, I was playing its demo for past 3 weeks for hours and hours.
And the full game ! it came out 100% better and AMAZING than the demo.
And the “Master League” mode which i love to play the most is way too amazing this time. Like . . . It has dealing with sponsors, dealing in different currency, and adjusting players . . . its almost 100% REAL.
you play PES and you wont play a game.
you’ll play FOOTBALL, a real FOOTBALL
just make your own strategies, movements in the field and you’ll score . .. and if u make a mistake, as i see playing at PROFESSIONAL level, make mistake and you’ll get punished in real
which is amazing. It gives the feeling of real football. Its not a game anymore.
Seabass - konami . . . has done it.

aki you might be talking about a different game coz i got my hands on pes 2010 too and it’s the worst football sim i ever played. i have been playin pes since it’s first 3d release (ISS PRO) and this is by far the worst one they EVER made..
First of all..YOU CAN’T LOSE when playing against the CPU!!! And that’s in EXPERT, TOP, PROFFESIONAL level or how the heck they call it(i have the game in greek :P)! That is tottaly lame…i managed to win Real with Panathinaikos 3-0 on the third game I played! The CPU don’t ever shoot! CPU players jus keep passing the ball front and then back again!!! Real finished the game with 2 shots!
Then, it’s that running thingy! Some players are superfast, others can’t even turn around or accelerate BUT then, let’s say u got messi and u try to sprint… for no reason at all Arbeola not only catches up with you but even goes past you with ease, stops and steals the ball!
Now we go to shooting…if u try ANY shot with a good player u get a 60%+ chance it will be a goal and another 20-30% the keeper will touch the ball but not block it or throw it out, instead the ball will stay in play giving the attacking team an easy second chance goal.
Controlling your players is a TOTAL MESS! they can lose the ball all by themselves, fall onto another player and the most anoying thing is that it takes 3 days and 17 hours (approximately) for them to pass the ball, not to mention that they look like they’re ice skating coz they can’t stop or change direction!
There is NO CPU AI! Nada! Keepers are nowhere, attackers don’t shoot and the referee has no reason to be in the game coz there are no fouls. On the other hand, there are a lot of offsides…so many u wanna smash the screen as the incredible AI has no other way of stoping you…
There are 10.000 more things that are wrong with this game e.g. the speed of the game, which curiously on the demo was fine but in the final release the game speed up again (i’m playin on i7 2,66, radeon 4870, 1680×1050 high quality and it’s like every player is on crack), the same lame commentary (for 25 years now) or how a game on the pc is called next gen when it does not support directx 10.1 but plays with directx 9c! Graphics are good but they could be A LOT better.
If some of you like basketball, go and buy nba 2k10 to understand one or two things about evolution, graphics, commentary, controls, realizm and daily updates…This is the first season i’m gonna buy FIFA too…

well , i ve been a fan of PES for over ten years now - playstation winnine eleven - and i ve played fifa 2010 and i have to say it is superb for fifa standards , better control settings , better game play ….but pes 2008 was someting else …the control setting didnt change ( for me it is very important coz i play the manual mode ) but in 2009 - 2010 they decreased our options to unassisted - semi assisted - and assisted !!! why ??? leave the control settings as they were for ten years or give us more options ….another thing , fifa creatoers learned a lot from pes , but come on sea bass dont ever decrease any thing , and dont try to immitate fifa , u r just good the way u are …please , bring back the old control settings …we - pes fans have put up with a lot of cons - like team names , crapy refs , not updated players , no choice of kits …but plz dont miss up the controls …it started 2009 , and i swear i couldnt enjoy it at all and i kept playing 2008 …but in 2010 u do the same thing …why ??

AWFUL AWFUL game.
I am so disappointed after waiting so long for this to come out…It is slow, doesn’t pass when you want it to, frustrating, I love dthe way 2009 played and they have ruined it!!
I am taking my copy back and want a full refund off Konami…

Review of PES2010 (Played on PC with Nvidia Geforce 9800GTX OCX)
I would like to write a good review of PES 2010 as it seems to be getting a lot of bad press, especially when compared to FIFA 2010.
Firstly I would like to say that after a week of playing PES 2010 I can honestly say that this is the most realistic and enjoyable football simulation of all time.
There have been a number of changes to PES with this years instalment and I think they are all for the good of the beautiful game.
Graphics:
Konami have created a visual masterpiece with this one, from the player models to the stadiums and animations nothing is left to the imagination.
The player models are about as close as you could possibly get to the real thing, you can almost smell the sweat and desire.
From the mole on Torres’ neck to Aaron Lennon’s shaved eyebrow, I even challenge you to study a picture of Wayne Rooney and count the freckles to see if they add up, I can tell you they are spot on (no pun intended). The faces are created with immense detail and while I agree that this does not make a game, it certainly adds to the spectacle.
The fine detail does not stop with the faces alone, every player has their own stature and demeanour, from Berbatov’s relaxed hunch to Terry’s towering authority, you really feel like you are there with the player.
The stadiums and pitches are nothing short of magical. 2010 has seen the inclusion of some realistically modelled stomping grounds, The glorious Santiago Bernebau offers a unnerving atmosphere fit for heroes alone.
Game play:
The game play has also taken a positive turn in 2010, somehow Konami have managed to capture the beautiful game in its very essence.
Going along with the graphics theme of every player is different, the game play fails to disappoint.
Somehow every player is unique, now this is much more than differing stats.
If you get the ball as Rooney he actually runs like Rooney, Gerrard and Torres interweave so well together, Torres with a delightful back heel and Gerrard Powers a low shot home from just outside the box.
Aaron Lennon is lightning fast on the wing, he goes round one, then two and whips a cross in from the right (misses everyone and veers off for a throw in).
Drogba is through on goal only the last defender to beat, a towering Pique steps up and clears the ball from under Drogba’s feet with clinical accuracy, Drogba goes down under non existent contact and rightly receives a yellow card for his amateur dramatics. (no swearing at the camera as of yet).
My question is how have Konami managed this? I remember the old school days where Roberto Carlos would take his trademark run up to a free kick or you would score a 40 yard screamer with Adriano’s left foot.
But now it seems like every player has the attributes of their real life counterpart. This alone makes PES 2010 the most realistic football simulation of all time.
One of the headlining features of PES 2010 is its new tactical sliders feature. This gives you the opportunity to fine tune your tactics using a number of slider bars ranging from 1-100.
You can adjust attacking style, compactness, defensive line, movement and more.
You can instruct players to move into free space when you are on the ball or stay close and provide maximum support to the man in possession.
You also have the introduction of skill cards which allow you to make sure your team is performing to its maximum potential.
If a centre back has a rating of 80 in his position you can move him to left back and you will see his rating drop to 60 this forces you to play your players in their preferred positions.
However some players are able to play more than one position effectively, for example Ronaldo who is naturally suited to the wing will not drop his rating if you move him into a centre forward position to stretch the opposition defence.
The ball no longer seems stuck to your feet like it has previously, you have to work to control a long pass.
While this will feel like a hindrance to some, it can work in your advantage, if you are 1 on 1 with the last defender and you receive a pass well it can take you right past him and your through on goal.
It is now not so easy to use one player for most of your attacks i.e Ronaldo for Manchester (Real Madrid) or Messi for Barca.
Master League:
The Master League has been slightly revamped in a few areas but remains ultimately not too different (why mess with a winning formula).
There is a new circular navigation screen that makes skipping around the menus easy and stress free.
The main innovations on the Master League are in the tournament itself, The Champions League and Europa League are now integrated with the Master League, giving you a lot more playability and variety to the campaign.
You are also able to make transfers at the beginning of the season which means no more waiting until January to bring in your first new signing.
The finances are also changed for the better, not only do you deal in multiple currencies across the globe, you now have the introduction of Sponsors.
Sponsors pay you performance related bonuses this has replaced the old system of accruing money based on wins.
You also receive ticket and TV revenue from home games only.
For the first time money is also realistic meaning that you pay 20m for a quality player rather than 20,000 points.
So all in all a more realistic experience of a real seasonal campaign that will keep you playing until 2011 arrives.
Others:
The game now has a fully licensed soundtrack including The Klaxons, The Chemical Brothers, Black Kids and many more.
There are no changes to the monotonous commentary, but the crowd sound is improved, the chants are clearer and fit the teams playing.
The crowd also reacts to in game action with cheers and boo’s.
Other minor differences include improved loading times, considerably better than 2009, and polished entrance scenes, including full team layout and formation views.
The Champions League mode is particularly attractive.
Overall:
Overall the game is much more life like, it is much harder to score spectacular goals and you have to work hard as a team.
While you have to do more to play well when you do you are greatly rewarded and the game flows a lot more freely than its predecessors.
You have the general feeling that you are more in control than before and you can do anything if you put your mind to it.

well… just recieved my game 2 days ago…!
wat can I say!!! worsth game I have ever played…!
Improvements in the menus… Europa League Champions League are fantastic…They all are appreciated…
What made me feel fade up… GAME PLAY…!!!!
It is a HUGE dissapointment…
As far as I know ( I dont pay for FIFA series since 1999 I presume… ) PES always had way better graphics… Great Game play understanding…
Last year I have downloaded demo version of Fifa 09… And Believe me I could not find any difference between Fifa 09 and PES 10! What the heck is this…
Game play is horribly BAD!
The very strange thing is I think Pes 2009 was a great game which I still play… Why did they need to change the graphics and game play…
And do not tell me that shit… FIFA is better than PES…
If you enjoy to play games with the Super Mario Graphics go for FIFA… ( I just cant understand how people like FIFA :))) it is really strange with those stupid graphics and game play)
PES was just an amazing game for real gamers… real football lovers…
Fifa is just a trademark… EA thinks they are the only one… but they are not PES told them they are not…
It is just this year’s dissapointment… which I hope its not gonna happen next year… But this does not mean I am gonna play rubbish FIFA…
I will keep playing PES 09 and sent an email to the technical support of Konami it would just be fantastic if they could release an official 2010 Team patch for Pes 2009…
for those who wonders the game just download the demo version and see how bad is PES 2010 do not pay for it before you see the demo…
with all the best

I totally agreed with Ods82 and Sean!!!
I know every October we are a little disappointed with the new version but this time I get the feeling that things just won’t get any better…
I cannot control my players! They seem like dizzy on the pitch. They cannot stop, they cannot turn or change direction fast, they need 10 meters open/free area in front of them to take the shot! In PES9 I could control their moves with close to 100% accuracy. It was like driving a Porsche on hard surface while now it feels like driving a Van on snow! The players move like a boat. How realistic is that?
Shooting - I am not sure that taking a successful shot (resulting to a goal) is easier in PES10. I was proud for my aiming skills in PES9 and I feel so disappointed now. No matter how hard I try to aim close to the inner side of the goal-post, I cannot get it right.
I was never concerned on the technical attributes of the game and I am not going to now… They might improved graphics and menus Ok! Good job! But at the end of the day we all need a game which feels good! Making the game more “realistic” (for some) but taking away the pleasure from the gamer that he actually controls his players, the team the game in general and taking away the feeling that all-in-all it is a matter of skill to win your opponent, is in my opinion unacceptable!!!
I am 35 and I usually play after a long day at work. I want to enjoy my game not get frustrated every single time I realize that finally it is not a matter of skill… Rather I will have to compromise in driving a Van on snow!
I just hope we are all wrong because October 2010 is 12 months away…

Have to say that having got pes2010 yet again konami are letting the side down with another disappointing effort, don’t get fooled by the reviews gameplay is still off. To anyone that doubts it, play 2010 and then play PES6 straight after and the difference in control of the players is night and day.
Annoyingly you can’t switch off completely the cursor settings to manual.
I’d like to see the IP addresses for all the positive reviews as i’m sure a good proportion are originating from Konami HQ!
PES6 - Still the best footy game for xbox live.
PES2008 - Disappointed
PES2009 - Even More Disappointed
PES2010 - Could be game over.
The only saving grace is that I got the game on the cheap. As I would be livid if I paid full price for it. This is getting traded in for Call of Duty.
Posted at 10:53 am on Nov 10th
Cosy Alien - Think you hit the nail on the head.
Another year, another disappointment.
Poor player controls, poor gameplay.
yes the graphics, menus are better. But its not why the game was bought, and its not why Pro Evo made a name for itself.
Play this game alongside PES6 and you will how much the game has gone in reverse since then.
Konami/Seabass if your reading this! Go back to basics. Scrap the base for which you have tried to build 2008,09 and now 2010. Go away and properly develop the game from scratch. If you need a base to go back to try PES6 to build the game from and improve that. Most people are buying this game to play online and once again you are proving a disappointment. And if you can’t develop a game for the next generation consoles. Go out and get some one that can!
Sales of the last few versions are purely based on your name and each year you produce this tripe less this name stands. FIFA have raised the bar and despite my reservations I’m probably going to have to go out and buy that to see how much better they are. Having bought every version since the ps2 days this is a big shame. Infact the only reason I bought the xbox 360 was because of playing pro evo online against my mates.
Usually when I get the new version of the game, I don’t put it down for a few days, every spare moment was spent played playing the game, last night I played two games and had to switch it off as I was so annoyed.
Stop being lazy, I hope the sales of this years version flop as you have to realise you can’t get away with producing the same rubbish over and over again and hope fans will buy it. You are shooting yourselves in the foot, as your competitor FIFA is doing much better things and more than likely overtake you as the main game for footy fans.

Well I started a season a week or so ago and I got more to tell ya…
How REALISTIC is the fact that after one year Kaka leaves Real for…Zenit St. Petersburg or that Drogba goes to Chelsea and Henry to Benfica??? Numerous player moves like that add to the disappointment..
Still any shot 20 meters out from Giuly or Kezman (I got PSG in Master League) ends as a goal half the times.
Still players are really hard to control
Still teams pass the ball around for no reason BUT…i must inform you that after playing more than 100 games I am starting to play how the game wants me too…I have adjusted to it’s excuse of a gameplay which is not a good thing. Also some of the big clubs attack more than the first friendly games I played, though 4 times out of 5 this happens with a lobe through pass.
And sth I forgot to mention before..WHY THE HECK did they leave out that fantastic pentagon graf with five player’s attributes (ATT, DEF, TEC, POW, STAM i think it is) that helped so much when comparing players…? They only left that for the teams..rubbish.
P.S. Still no update regarding the trades from KONAMI.

@Ods82, it’s not that unrealistic given then: Zenit have got loads of money and if madrid mess up this season they might have to get rid of all their big earners, Henry is 32 now and probably will leave Barça at the end of this season in real life (he’s not as fast or good as he used to be) and Drogba is already at Chelsea (!!?)
I’ve been playing a fair bit of the game this week and I’m starting to get used to the gameplay. Yes, the players are unresponsive and seem to have a mind of their own, and yes there are some strange glitches (like when the keepers come off their line automatically and leave space for the opposition to score really easily- really annoying). BUT we always say this about a new pro evo. it’s always horrible at first getting used to the new movements and the way the ball travels. I’m sure in a few weeks once we’ve got the old version out of our conciousness we will all be saying how good it is. At least, that’s what I hope because the thought of having to go and buy FIFA 10 chills me to my very core.

i agree that the game seems more realistic than before since in pes 09, i can score by dribbling using only a player from a quite weak team againts a giant team..but even though 2010 seems realistic, sometimes it can be unrealistically hard..i.e; player stop n can’t score even with open goal just bcoz AI toching him..now i think i can handle the game but still the swearing will constantly came out from my mouth every time something stupid happen..

ive played pro evolution for 12 years ever since iss pro, iss pro 98, iss pro evolution 1 + 2, pro evolution 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 2008, 2009 and now 2010. for me this is the worst pro evo ive ever played maybe the worst game ive ever played. the gameplay has completely gone slowing the game right down to focus on simulation. this is not even a sctratch on the old pro evo and komani wonder why there losing money. they are trying to be more like fifa which is stupid because we play pro evo because we hate fifa! the simulation football is terrible i play pro evo for a quick easy GAMEPLAY focused game. i would much rather pull out my old ps2 and play pro evo 5 or 6 komanis best! but obvioulsy the graphics arnt as good and the players from today are not there. im learning game design now to take the pld pro evo 6 and intergrate the new games graphics players teams and names. hopefully one day be able to work for komani on pro evo and say look this is what people want.

online play is worse that ever, one of the biggest focus’s was to fix this and they clearly havent. on quick game a green connection from england comes up and it says its unable to proceed. yet when i play a flashing red from iraq itll load fine yet when i play my game is unbelivablely out of sync, i press pass and it litterally does it 2 seconds later. same with tackling and as u can imagine how hard this is to play….. i end up losing 5-0 or something stupid with no way to quit the game i have to restart the full system!!!!!!! when i play and the connection is fine i win easily against most. this shit online is damaging my score and self esteam get it sorted komani BRING BACK PRO EVO 6 GAME PLAY!!!!!!!!!

This game is good and is better than pro 2009 but pro 2008 beats it by a mile.

Guys… I have a real problem with my wife! Almost every night after the rest of the family goes to bed I turn this “thing” on once again hoping to understand what I am doing wrong! The result is to start cursing and shouting on the stupid thing! Then my wife jumps off the bed and starts telling me how much disappointed she is with my reaction over a game… this is what PRO2010 is all about…
I hate to disappoint you people but as days go by I am more and more convinced that this not a matter of practice and definitely this is not because we still haven’t got used to it. All this anger and frustration we feel is not going away! This is not like every other year when we were disappointed at the beginning and 1-2 weeks later we were all excited again! This time it will not happen. They took our laughter away. Really can we sue them just for this…?
Ps: I have bought FIFA too on the very same day I got the PRO - I still haven’t even tried to insert it in my console. This is not a matter of comparison. I am a PRO lover and I am trying to give it every possible chance to prove me wrong.

I play this game since the first one released on Super nintendo. It used to be the best soccer game ever. The 2009 version was a dissapointment to me so i hope this one is better.

Guys guys guys…
What the HELL have you lot been playing??
Ok. This is my setup: samsung 40″ LCD Full HD tv, PS3 slim, goldpins HDMI cable for crisp connection. Now I’ve set the mode to 1080 and proevo is playing fine. In fact its 10x better than 09. Maybe its because of your output or the cable you use or indeed your tv. Hell, it might even be coz you got the old PS3 and not the new slim version.
But until you have tried altering any of these, please don’t tell me that this pro is shit.
Gameplay? Fantastic!
Graphics? Breath-taking
Realistic? Absolutely
Well done KONAMI!! Top top game… You never dissappoint me…

Haha you guys almost had me worried….
Picked this up yesterday and I must say I had second thoughts about it.
I’ve been overseas for the last 2 years and as such I haven’t played PES since pes 5 & 6. Back then my friends and I were totally addicted and would often (twice a week) put in 6-8 hours sessions with beers and everything else
Since coming home I have recently been playing FIFA09 which I must say is a vast improvement over any other FIFA game I had played before and so it reignited my craving for a good football game.
I bought PES off ebay and eagerly awaiting its arrival, I started reading all these reviews and comments. As I said I became a little worried.
I shouldn’t have! After a long night on the booze and xbox last night PES is as unreal as ever. My mate who owns the FIFA09 copy I’ve been playing even said its more like real football.
Not trying to sound like too much of a fanboy here, but to everyone out there who is reading all these comments and like me, have no idea what to believe, don’t stress. Its real PES - its polished, its deep but most of all, its bloody good fun.
My two cents

I have pro 5 and since then have just bought fifa games but this year i bought fifa and played a game of pro at my mates and loved it and traded my fifa in for a pro evo 2010 and i gotta say yeh it is slower but its more realistic you cant just ping em in these days you have to get the aiming spot on and the master league this year is the best ever
the games class and im back on pro

Pro 9 is way better than pro 10. I am seriously considering switching to fifa. deeply disappointed in pro 10.

Absolute pile of shit game. Ive been playing 2008 for years and thought it was class.
But 2010 is like a completely different game. How can they go backwards? So disappointing

The top plaer mode is too easy. And almost everytime you send the ball through corner if the ball is on your head and the player header ability is upper than 79 you surely score.the graphic is perfect but the AI is still easy.
